Cell-free DNA, or cfDNA, is a biomarker that is gaining popularity for the diagnosis of various cancers, and is commonly measured using plasma samples. Unfortunately, efficient isolation of cfDNAs is a major challenge, requiring expensive, difficult-to-perform, and slow methods. Moreover, the process of obtaining cfDNAs involves the lysis of blood cells, which can damage the cfDNAs themselves and lyse non-cancerous cells as well, lowering the biomarker detection rates and negatively affecting diagnosis. For more information, please click here.
